About the Program

The Next Generation Foresight Practitioner Young Voices Awards (NGFP-YV) is a free annual global competition run by Teach the Future, open to youth aged 12–17 worldwide. It invites young people to apply futures thinking — the practice of envisioning and designing for long-term change — to real-world challenges framed by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Participants submit individual, partner, or group projects through the online portal at apply.nextgenforesight.org. Submissions are evaluated across the 17 SDGs, with one project recognized per goal. The first-place winner receives $1,000; three runners-up each receive $500; six additional top finalists receive recognition. A dedicated MENA Region Recognition Award, launched in 2025, recognizes 10 additional projects from the Middle East and North Africa, with special honors for 1st–3rd place.

The 2026 competition deadline is June 26, 2026 at 11:59pm HST. Resources including FAQs, a foresight zine, and Q&A sessions are available to help participants develop their submissions.

Eligibility

Open to individuals, partners, or groups aged 12–17 worldwide. No prior experience in foresight required. Submissions should reflect curiosity about the changing world and translate visionary ideas into action in service to a community.
