Alma College
Alma College pays $1,500 a year for talent in art, dance, music, e-sports or the Scottish arts, and it does not require the student to major in the subject.
The Scottish arts strand is genuinely distinctive, covering Highland dancing and piping, and reflects the college's traditions. Distinguished awards start at $2,000.
Renewal turns on participation rather than grades, checked against departmental rosters twice a year, and only one performance award is held at a time.
A renewable $1,500 a year regardless of major, with distinguished awards from $2,000. The college breaks it into departmental awards covering art and design, dance, dance team, music, e-sports, and a Scottish arts award for accomplishment in Highland dancing or piping. Only one performance scholarship is held a year, and a distinguished award replaces rather than adds to the base.
An audition or portfolio in the chosen area. Renewal requires meeting the department's participation requirements, which the college checks against rosters each February and September. Note the college states the art and design base award requires a minor inconsistently across its own tabs, so confirm that point.
The award appears in the college's international student scholarships section, and its aid document states international students also qualify for the performance arts scholarship, the legacy scholarship and the Scottish hospitality scholarship.
An audition or portfolio submitted through the admissions office. For art and design, a single document with a letter of intention and twelve labelled images. Distinguished awards close on 1 May; applicants auditioning or admitted after that date are eligible only for the base award.
Recurring deadline: 1 may (check provider for current cycle)
