The Centralis Gold Award is the second tier of Central Michigan University's Centralis competition. It covers tuition for up to 33 credits an academic year, renews for three further years, and comes with a $5,000 award for study away plus entry to the CMU Honors Program.
CMU tells international applicants that degree-seeking international high school seniors may be eligible for Centralis and compete on the same requirements and deadlines as everyone else. The international tuition and fees rate for 2026-2027 is $22,050, so a Gold award removes the single largest line on the bill while housing and food, listed at $13,360, stay with you.
One application covers the competition. Apply to CMU with a 3.7 high school GPA or better, complete the Centralis form from your applicant portal, and attend the competition if shortlisted. Contact the Office of International Recruitment about the international admissions route before you start.
Centralis Gold cannot be combined with other CMU merit aid, so compare it against the automatic international awards before accepting.
