The Starzer Service Scholarship is the one award at Colorado School of Mines that an international student can apply for. The university's other merit awards, including the Provost Award and President's Scholarship, are limited to US citizens, permanent residents and Colorado ASSET-eligible students.
It pays $5,000 to $10,000 a year toward tuition, books, fees, and room and board, and is awarded on financial need together with a record of servant leadership rather than on grades or test scores. Preference goes to students from Colorado schools, but the university encourages out-of-state and international applicants.
Mines states elsewhere that international students are generally not eligible for financial aid, and does not explain how it assesses need for a student with no US federal aid form.
