Furman gives two of these a year, and they exist for international students specifically. You must be applying on an F-1 student visa, and the award covers a minimum of half your tuition, renewing each year with satisfactory academic progress.
What the committee wants is evidence that you build bridges between cultures. Furman asks for interest and personal initiative in intercultural learning and exchange, so point to clubs you founded, languages you teach, exchanges you organised. Any major or field of study qualifies.
This is one of the few Furman awards with a form of its own. After you apply for admission, complete the #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship Application on your Furman online status page by 1 February. Decisions land by 15 March and you confirm and enrol by 1 May.
Half of tuition still leaves room, board, fees, insurance and flights. Furman's merit scholarships are open to international students, so the sensible plan is to be considered for those at the same time.
