This is the one award at Furman that closes the whole bill. Tuition, room, board and every fee are covered for four years, and Furman describes recipients as the top 1 to 2 percent of everyone who applies.
Furman states that international students are eligible for all of its institutional merit-based scholarships, so an F-1 applicant competes for the Duke on the same terms as a domestic one. Need-based grants at Furman are a separate pool and are closed to international students, which makes this award the route to a funded place.
The process has two stages. Apply for admission by the 1 November priority deadline and the committee reads your file for the award. A shortlist is invited in early February to a Scholarship Interview Event in late March, so prepare for an interview that decides the outcome.
Alongside the money, recipients join the Riley Institute's Advantage Scholars programme and the Community of Scholars, which carry faculty mentoring and year-round programming.
