Lawrence reviews every applicant for a merit scholarship and publishes the range plainly: $30,000 to $42,000 a year, guaranteed and renewed at the same level for four years. International applicants are considered automatically alongside everyone else.
The university refuses to publish a formula, saying there is no grade-plus-test-score table to work from. It reads academic performance, the strength of the curriculum in the context of the school, class rank where a school provides one, the essay, and test scores only if a student chooses to submit them.
Lawrence is also direct about the ceiling: full scholarships are not available and a student will be required to contribute toward the cost of attendance. Conservatory applicants are assessed on a separate track where the audition feeds the same merit decision. Students who also want need-based consideration have to file the Certification of Finance form within five days of their application deadline.
