Five awards a year in total: one Global Scholar Award covering full tuition, worth around $38,000, and four Global Scholar Fellowships of $30,000 each. Both are for incoming international first-year students, and both replace the merit scholarship already attached to an offer rather than stacking on top of it.
What stays uncovered is the part that decides whether the award is usable. Housing, meals, required fees and insurance are not included, and for 2025-26 Maryville put the remaining annual bill at $15,674 for an Award holder and $24,044 for a Fellowship holder. Proof of funding for the balance is a condition of being considered at all, not a formality afterwards: the College states that an applicant without sufficient funds will not be considered.
Two deadlines, in this order. Admission to Maryville College by 15 January, which the College explains is what leaves time to review the file. Then the Award application itself by 1 February, available only through the MaryVille Portal once admitted.
The application asks for three essays under 250 words each, a one-page resume and a reference who can speak to leadership or academic ability. Two of the three essays are about what the applicant will do on campus, one asking for a plan for sharing their culture and one for evidence that they can carry such a plan out.
The conditions carry through all four years. Holders must live on campus for the full period, keep F-1 status, give two hours a week to the Center for Global Engagement and hold a 3.0 GPA. The award does not rise with tuition, so increases above the current rate fall to the student.
The Global Scholar Award page was checked on 16 September 2026. Figures for the remaining cost of attendance were current for 2025-26 at that time.
