This is one of the few awards that funds a taught master's to the same depth that the famous undergraduate scholarships fund a first degree. Tuition and fees for the whole normal duration, 2,300 Canadian dollars a month to live on during academic terms, a relocation grant to get to Montreal, and up to 5,000 dollars for a summer initiative if a term is not being taken.
The eligibility window is wider than most. A current student on track to finish a first bachelor's by August 2027 qualifies, so does anyone who graduated since January 2021, and so does an earlier graduate who was 30 or younger at the start of 2026. Someone several years into working life is squarely inside this, which is unusual for an award of this size.
Note the two deadlines, because they are more than a month apart and the international one comes first: 19 August for international applicants and 23 September for applicants from Canada and the United States, both at 4pm Eastern, for entry in 2027.
Selection runs through regional interviews and then a final round, and the entrance awards act as a consolation tier with real money attached. Around 100 are made, worth 10,000 dollars to Canadian finalists and 20,000 a year for up to two years to international finalists, so reaching the later rounds is worth something even without the full award.
Two applications are needed, not one. The scholarship has its own portal, and admission to the McGill programme is applied for separately, so a scholarship offer depends on getting a place as well.
The programme overview and the application page were checked on 16 September 2026.
