About the Scholarship

Saint Mary's University of Minnesota pays international students $27,000 a year on this tier, or $27,000 as a transfer, for a grade average of 3.02 to 3.39.

The fourth tier, and notable for its transfer band: the university pays the same $27,000 to transfer students with a grade average of 2.79 and below, which is unusually generous at that level.

Two conditions shape what it is worth. Living on campus is required, and commuting cuts the award by $4,000. And the award covers tuition only against a total cost of $60,390, so even the top tier leaves around $30,000 a year to find.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

$27,000 for first-year students and $27,000 for transfers, renewable for three further years on a grade average of 2.0. Tuition is $47,680 and the total cost of attendance $60,390 for 2026 to 2027, so even the top tier leaves roughly $30,000 a year uncovered. On-campus residency is a condition rather than a preference, and commuting cuts the award by $4,000. The tiers are keyed to the 2026 to 2027 year.

Eligibility

A secondary school grade average of 3.02 to 3.39 for first-year entry, or a college grade average of 2.79 and below for transfer entry. Full-time enrolment on the Winona campus with on-campus residency. Renewal needs a grade average of 2.0.

Eligible Countries

The university states international students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships with no separate application, that awards can cover up to 63 per cent of tuition excluding living expenses and fees, that they require on-campus residency, and that they are renewable each year.
