About the Scholarship

SUNY Plattsburgh's Academic Merit Scholarship tops up its flat Cardinal Award with up to $3,500 a year for international first-year students, or up to $500 for transfers.

First-year amounts come from a holistic review rather than a grade table, and the college says applicants whose SAT or ACT results show ability at or above what their transcript suggests are more likely to qualify. Transfers need a 3.5 college grade average.

The range starts at zero, so being considered is not the same as being paid.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

$0 to $3,500 a year for first-year students and $0 to $500 a year for transfers, renewable annually. The floor is zero, so a considered applicant may receive nothing under this line. Students paying the online non-resident tuition rate are excluded, and the transfer table also excludes students in the nursing programme.

Eligibility

For first-year applicants, a holistic review of grades, academic and non-academic achievement, activities and exam scores where available. Transfer applicants need a college grade average of 3.5 or better. Students paying the online non-resident tuition rate are excluded, and the transfer table also excludes students in the nursing programme.
