About the Scholarship

The Distinguished Scholarship is the entry band of Texas State University's guaranteed merit grid, paying $4,000 to $5,000 a year for four years.

It reaches students whose scores or class rank fall below the Achievement thresholds, and like the rest of the grid it is guaranteed rather than competitive. International students qualify on the same published terms as Texas residents.

Renewal needs a 3.25 grade average and 28 credit hours a year.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

$5,000 a year with an SAT of 1160 or above or ACT of 24 or above and a rank of 26 to 30 per cent; $4,000 at a rank of 31 to 35 per cent; $4,000 with an SAT of 1060 to 1150 or ACT of 21 to 23 and a top-quarter rank.

Eligibility

A qualifying combination of test score and class rank as published in the university's grid. Renewal needs a 3.25 cumulative grade average and 28 credit hours a year.

The university states the award is guaranteed to all qualified residents and nonresidents, including international students.
