About the Scholarship

The Global Ambassador Scholarship pays $10,000 to $15,000 a year for four years at the University of Tennessee, and reaches down to a 3.0 grade average where the university's other international award starts at 3.8.

It comes with a job attached. Recipients represent the university as global ambassadors, carrying out activities through its international recruitment team and acting as a peer resource for prospective international students. That is an ongoing commitment, not a one-off.

It is also invitation-only: qualifying applicants receive a separate application after applying for admission, so the 1 May admission deadline is the gate. A student cannot hold this and the International Volunteer Scholarship together.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

$15,000 a year at a grade average of 3.8 or above, $12,500 from 3.5 to 3.79, and $10,000 from 3.0 to 3.49. Four-year totals run from $40,000 to $60,000. Amounts are the university's published 2026 to 2027 figures. Amounts are pegged to out-of-state rates, so a change in residency status can change the award. It cannot be combined with other institutional scholarships.

Eligibility

A minimum converted weighted core grade average of 3.0, enrolling the autumn immediately after secondary school. Recipients must represent the university as a global ambassador, carrying out activities organised through its international recruitment team and acting as a peer resource for prospective international students. Renewal needs a cumulative 3.0, full-time enrolment and continued non-resident visa status.

Eligible Countries

The university requires an incoming first-year international student holding a non-resident visa who will not graduate from an American secondary school, with a minimum 3.0 grade average, and requires that status to be maintained for renewal.
