Tulane sets aside a merit scholarship of $15,000 to $30,000 a year for a high school senior who has competed on a FIRST Robotics team, with the exact figure set by academic background. It renews over four years while you stay in good academic standing.
Eligibility is specific. You need at least one full season on a FIRST Robotics Competition or FIRST Tech Challenge team in your junior or senior year, and you must be admitted as a full-time first-year student studying in Tulane's School of Science and Engineering. Any undergraduate course of study inside that school counts.
This one does take extra work. Beyond the Common Application and the CSS Profile, you request consideration in the Green Wave Portal, have a mentor or coach email a recommendation letter to Tulane, and write a 250-word essay on your interest in science and engineering. Tulane states that international students are eligible for all of its merit scholarships.
