About the Scholarship

The University of Florida offers admitted international first-year students three tiers of out-of-state tuition waiver: the Alumni Scholarship at up to $8,000 a year, the Sunshine Scholarship at up to $16,000, and the Gator Nation Scholarship at $20,000.

Roughly one in ten admitted international first-year students receives one. Selection is automatic and weighs grades, test scores, activities, leadership, community service and essays, with notification around mid-March.

The waivers apply to the non-resident portion of tuition, so they lapse if a student later qualifies as a Florida resident.
