About the Scholarship

The University of Mississippi tiers its international award by grade average, and the top band is unusually generous: a 3.9 to 4.0 average brings $28,893 a year, which the university puts at 93 percent of tuition.

Below that the tiers drop steeply, to $12,000 at 3.75, $9,500 at 3.5 and $5,000 at 3.25. All four renew for four years.

There is nothing extra to submit. Admitted international first-year students receive an award letter automatically, with the grade average converted to the US scale.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

Four named tiers by grade average on the American scale: the Mississippi Premier at $28,893 a year for 3.9 to 4.0, which is 93 per cent of tuition; the Mississippi Champion at $12,000 for 3.75 to 3.89; the Mississippi Magnolia at $9,500 for 3.5 to 3.74; and the Mississippi Legacy at $5,000 for 3.25 to 3.49. Fixed amounts renewable for up to four years. The Premier tier is capped at 20 awardees per country per year and awarded in order of admission. These tiers cannot be combined with the university's test-score scholarships; whichever is worth more is the one activated. Figures are the university's 2026 to 2027 amounts.
