The Lillis Foundation Scholarship is one of two full rides the University of Puget Sound gives out each year. It covers tuition, a standard double room and a standard medium meal plan for up to four years, and Puget Sound's own international admission pages list it among the scholarships international applicants can apply for.
It is built for students who love ideas. The committee reads your grades, the rigour of your curriculum, your test scores and your written work, then looks for a genuine appetite for academic work such as research. Test scores are required here even if you applied test-optional for admission, and the committee sees them only for the scholarship.
The effort is a second application with its own essay, due alongside your admission application on 1 December. Roughly 250 to 300 students apply, ten reach a virtual interview in late February, and two are chosen by 15 March.
Keeping it asks for a 3.75 cumulative grade point average, full-time enrolment, a renewal application each year, and evidence that you are building towards a competitive fellowship such as the Rhodes, Truman or Watson. Mandatory fees, flights and books sit outside the award, so budget for those.
