About the Scholarship

Washington College gives every qualifying international applicant $33,000 to $38,000 a year automatically, which is 56 to 65 per cent of its $58,704 tuition and fees.

The renewal bar is set lower for international students than domestic ones: a 2.0 grade average against the 2.5 domestic merit recipients must hold. That is an unusual direction for a college to lean.

Two limits. The college states plainly that it does not offer full-tuition scholarships, which also rules out its five George Washington Signature awards for international applicants. And its domestic page advertises up to $43,000 for early applications; that higher figure is never attached to this grant, so do not plan on it.

$33,000 to $38,000 a year against tuition and fees of $58,704, so 56 to 65 per cent. Held for a maximum of eight semesters and reviewed each spring, with notification in June. The college states it does not offer full-tuition scholarships to international students.

Eligibility

Entry as an international first-year or transfer applicant. The college considers academic records, the admission essay and letters of recommendation. Renewal needs a cumulative grade average of 2.0, which is lower than the 2.5 it requires of domestic merit recipients.
