Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair

About the Program

The Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) is the world’s largest international STEM research competition for high school students. Students in grades 9-12 or equivalent compete in affiliated science fairs around the globe for the opportunity to showcase their independent research and compete for nearly $9 million in awards, prizes, and scholarships.

2027 application timing, checked November 4, 2026: The affiliated-fair calendar confirms the Los Angeles event on May 8–14. Student entry deadlines belong to the relevant qualifying fair. April 12 is the final date for those fairs; April 16 applies only to abstract rewrites. Finalist paperwork follows the relative deadlines described above. The 2027 project rules govern eligibility and research dates. The advertised cash prizes are competition awards, rather than guaranteed attendance assistance.

Eligibility

For ISEF 2027, students must be selected by a Society-affiliated fair, be in grades 9–12 or equivalent, and not have reached age 20 on or before May 1, 2027. Projects must follow the 2027 International Rules, include at most 12 months of continuous research, and contain no research performed before January 2026. Students in grades 9-12 or equivalent.

How to Apply

Qualify through a Society-affiliated fair; direct entry is not available. Local entry deadlines vary. The 2027 calendar requires the Finalist Questionnaire and Official Party Registration within 12 calendar days of the fair date, and the virtual booth within 12 days of booth assignment.
