About the Program

The Wharton Global High School Investment Competition is a free, experiential investment challenge for high school students and teachers. Students form teams of four to seven, guided by a teacher advisor, and use an online stock market simulator. They learn strategy-building, teamwork, communication, risk, diversification, and company/industry analysis. Teams analyze a case study for a real Wharton graduate client and develop an investment strategy, analyze industries and companies, and build a portfolio with virtual cash over 10 weeks. Winners are chosen based on the strength of their strategies, not portfolio growth. Teams submit two deliverables, and semifinalists present their strategies virtually. The top teams advance to the Global Finale in Philadelphia.
