About the Scholarship

Aalto waives the whole tuition fee for the normative length of the degree, three years for a bachelor's and two years for a master's, so this is the entire fee rather than a first-year discount that lapses. What the fee is worth depends on where you are admitted: EUR 12,000 a year for bachelor's business and technology, up to EUR 20,000 a year for master's art and architecture.

Living costs sit outside the award. Plan for them separately, including the funds you must show for a Finnish residence permit.

The operational detail matters more than the eligibility here. There is no separate scholarship application and no later window: the admission form carries the option to apply, and Aalto states plainly that you cannot apply for a scholarship once the application period has closed. A student who submits the admission application without ticking it has given up the award for that cycle.

Only students liable for tuition fees can apply, which means citizens from outside the EU and EEA. EU/EEA citizens pay no tuition at Aalto and so have nothing to waive.

The scholarship terms and tuition fees, the bachelor's application period and the master's application period were checked on 15 September 2026.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

Covers the full tuition fee for the normative period of study of the degree programme, three years for a bachelor's and two years for a master's. Living costs are not covered. Annual tuition for study rights beginning on or after 1 August 2025 runs from EUR 12,000 for bachelor's programmes in business and technology to EUR 20,000 for master's programmes in art and architecture, so the value of the waiver follows the programme.

Eligibility

Hold citizenship outside the EU/EEA, be liable to tuition fees, and apply to an English-taught bachelor's or master's programme at Aalto. Selection is merit-based. Scholarships are granted for the normative period of study of the degree programme.

Eligible Countries

Open to non-EU/EEA citizens who are liable for tuition fees at Aalto. Students who are not charged tuition, including EU/EEA citizens, cannot apply.
