The International Scholar Award is Central Michigan University's middle band of automatic merit money for international undergraduates. It pays $4,000 a year for four years, or three years if you arrive as a transfer student.
The range it serves is a GPA of 3.0 to 3.29 on the United States 4.0 scale, with proof of English proficiency. Students above 3.3 are moved to the International President's Award instead, which is worth more, so this tier is the one that catches solid records just below that line.
Applying costs you nothing extra. CMU reviews every international applicant for these awards automatically and assigns the highest one you qualify for. Students funded by their home government are excluded.
Against international tuition and fees of $22,050 for 2026-2027, $4,000 is a useful reduction rather than a solution, so pair it with the financial documentation CMU requires before it issues an I-20.
