The Navy and Silver Award is the entry band of Columbia College's automatic merit scale, paying $4,000 a year for up to four years.
It matters because of where the bar sits: a grade average around 2.4, well below what most American merit awards require. For a student whose transcript would not clear a conventional merit threshold, this is a rare published award.
Renewal needs 27 credits a year and satisfactory academic progress rather than a fixed grade average.
