The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) is the South Korean government's programme for international students at the undergraduate, master's, doctoral, and research levels at designated universities across the country.
Applicants choose between an Embassy Track, applying through the Korean embassy in their home country, and a University Track, applying directly to one of roughly 80 designated universities. The 2026 graduate notice specifies online applications for the Embassy Track. Graduate University Track applicants submit directly to their chosen university under its own instructions; for example, the University of Seoul requires postal or in-person submission. The award covers tuition, a year of Korean language training, a monthly study allowance, and round-trip airfare. Undergraduate applicants must be under 25 and graduate applicants under 40, and both need a grade average of at least 80 percent. Applications run in two waves each year: autumn for undergraduate admission and late winter for graduate admission.
