About the Scholarship

Lamar University pays $20,000 across four years on this band, $5,000 a year toward tuition.

The third automatic band, and the first with no accommodation component.

The route in is what makes Lamar unusual. Domestic applicants need both a grade average and a class rank, but the university lets international applicants qualify on a test score alone, which suits students whose schools issue no rank.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

$20,000 over four years, $5,000 a year toward tuition. Paid evenly across autumn and spring.

Eligibility

Entry as a first-time-in-college student. Domestic applicants need a grade average of 3.65 to 3.94 and a class rank in the top 25 per cent; international applicants qualify on an SAT of 1080 to 1190 or an ACT of 21 to 24. The university recalculates grade averages on a weighted 5.0 scale, and its class-rank requirement does not apply to home-schooled applicants or schools that do not rank, which matters for international applicants whose schools issue no rank. No renewal grade threshold is published for this award.

Eligible Countries

The university states international students submit a qualifying SAT of 1080 to 1190 or ACT of 21 to 24 for consideration, in place of the grade average and class rank route open to domestic applicants.
