Michigan Tech reserves the International Ambassador Scholarship for undergraduates who are citizens and residents of countries other than the United States, which makes it one of the clearest international awards among US public universities of its size.
The amount follows your academic record. A GPA of 3.50 or above brings $14,300 a year and a GPA between 3.00 and 3.49 brings $11,000 a year, for up to four years or eight semesters. Against Michigan Tech's non-resident tuition this is a useful slice rather than a full ride, so plan the rest of the budget.
You do not apply for it. Accepted first-year and transfer applicants are considered automatically, so the work sits entirely in the admission application and your transcript.
Keeping it means a cumulative GPA of 2.50, full-time enrolment of at least 12 credits and good standing under the student conduct code, checked each year. One catch: it cannot be stacked with the Alumni Legacy Award, the Military Family Education Award or the College of Business Dean's Award, so Michigan Tech will give you whichever single award applies.
