The Banach Scholarship Programme is Poland's government scholarship for master's study, run by the National Agency for Academic Exchange and named after the mathematician Stefan Banach.
It pays a monthly scholarship for up to twelve months of each academic year and exempts the holder from tuition at Polish public universities, with a one-off travel lump sum on top. Students on the Polish-taught track can choose a funded one-year preparatory course before their studies, or start directly if they already have B2 Polish; students on English-taught programmes take a Polish language and culture course instead.
Two details catch applicants out. NAWA does not arrange university admission, so you must apply to the university yourself and prove you have done so. And the call can close before its published deadline, because recruitment runs in four country groups and each group closes once it reaches its application cap.
A tuition waiver at private universities is not guaranteed and has to be negotiated with the institution.
Eligibility and graduation requirements verified on 19 September 2026 against section 2.2 of the Banach 2026 call. These dates apply to the closed 2026 call; applicants must check the next call for its graduation window.
