About the Scholarship

Poland My First Choice is the National Agency for Academic Exchange's scholarship for master's students from high-income countries, and the counterpart to the Banach Scholarship Programme, which serves a different set of countries.

It pays a monthly scholarship for up to twelve months of each academic year, exempts the holder from tuition at Polish public institutions, and adds a one-off travel payment banded by how far the student is travelling.

As with Banach, NAWA does not arrange university admission. Applicants pick their university and field from the institutions that hold a framework agreement with NAWA, and apply to that university themselves.

Eligibility and graduation requirements verified on 19 September 2026 against section 2.2 of the Poland My First Choice 2026 call. These dates apply to the closed 2026 call; applicants must check the next call for its graduation window.

What It Covers

  • Tuition
  • Living stipend
  • Travel

A monthly scholarship of PLN 2,000 for up to twelve months per academic year, exemption from tuition fees at Polish public higher education institutions, and a one-off travel lump sum banded by country, from PLN 1,000 for Lithuania to PLN 6,500 for the most distant countries. At non-public institutions the fee decision rests with the institution.

Eligibility

For the 2026 call, a first-cycle degree obtained in a programme country in 2024 or later, or final-year first-cycle studies in a programme country with the degree obtained by 15 July 2026, with no previous NAWA second-cycle scholarship. Polish or English at B2, matching the language of instruction. Applicants choose the university and field themselves from the institutions holding a framework agreement with NAWA, and NAWA does not arrange admission. Fields at institutions supervised by other ministries are excluded.

Eligible Countries

Citizens of the listed high-income countries, plus residents of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, who must not hold Polish citizenship or have applied for it. This list does not overlap with the Banach Scholarship Programme.
