About the Scholarship

New College of Florida pays $1,000 a year to international transfer students on an F-1 visa who are active Phi Theta Kappa members.

Phi Theta Kappa is an honour society for American two-year colleges, so this reaches students already studying at a community college in the United States rather than applicants from abroad.

It cannot be combined with the college's All-Florida Academic Team award, and students who already hold a bachelor's degree cannot receive institutional funding at all.

What It Covers

$1,000 a year. The college states all scholarships are subject to renewal requirements and available funding, without publishing the renewal criteria. It cannot be combined with the college's All-Florida Academic Team award, and where a student qualifies for more than one the college assigns the best option.

Eligibility

Membership of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at the time of admission, as a transfer student. Students who already hold a bachelor's or higher degree cannot receive institutional funding.

The college states this is available to international transfer students on an F-1 visa who are current Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society members. The college notes that Florida public universities are not allowed to recruit students from China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela and Syria under a state law in effect since December 2024. It is worded as a recruiting prohibition rather than a bar on admission or scholarships.
