The John P. McNulty Program at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia awards a small number of full-tuition scholarships, held for four years, to women starting a degree in one of the sciences, mathematics or computing. A further set of partial-tuition awards goes to other strong applicants in the same pool.
To be considered you need a cumulative secondary school grade average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale and a declared interest in one of the supported majors, which run from biology and chemistry through to data science, information technology and physics. Test scores are not required. Saint Joseph's lists the programme as open to international students as well as domestic first-year applicants.
The effort is front-loaded. You apply for admission, activate your SJU account, then submit a separate scholarship application with a resume, an essay, your final-year course list and a recommendation from a science or maths teacher by 1 February. Shortlisted applicants are interviewed.
The award pays tuition only, so budget for housing, meals, fees, books and health insurance. Keeping it means staying full time in a supported major, holding a 3.2 grade average each year, and reapplying to the programme every year.
