The Presidential Scholarship is Saint Louis University's top award for student leaders. It pays full tuition for ten consecutive full-time autumn and spring semesters, up to 18 credit hours in each, which covers a standard four-year degree with room to spare.
Eligibility starts with a cumulative secondary school grade average of 3.85 or above, weighted or unweighted, as shown on your transcript at the end of your third year. Test scores are not required. Hitting that mark only puts you in the pool. SLU reads the applications and invites a select group to the St. Louis campus to interview and compete for the award.
International applicants can win it. SLU's international admission FAQ says financial aid is available to international students at the St. Louis campus and names the Presidential Scholarship as one of two awards that need a separate application and are open to first-time first-year students.
There are two submissions and one date. The admission application and all supporting materials are due by 1 December, and the separate Presidential Scholarship application in the Billiken Gateway Portal, with a 500-word leadership essay, a resume and two references, is due the same day. The award replaces any other SLU merit scholarship you were offered, and scholars can request up to $1,200 for an Investigative Learning Experience such as research, an internship or a service project. Housing, meals, fees and health insurance remain your cost.
