About the Scholarship

Smith College's Presidential Scholarship pays $12,000 a year for four years, decided on merit at admission with no separate application.

Smith is a women's college and admits applicants who self-identify as women, including cis, trans and nonbinary women.

On eligibility, the same reasoning applies as to the college's STRIDE award. Smith marks its US-citizens-only merit awards with an explicit sentence and withholds that marker here, while running its merit section on the financial aid page for international students. No sentence names international students and this award together, so confirm with the admission office. Note too that an international student who does not apply for aid before admission is never eligible for institutional aid at Smith.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

$12,000 a year, paid as $6,000 a semester, for four years. Continuation each year needs good academic standing.

Eligibility

Entry as a first-year student, selected on merit by the admission office. Continuation needs good academic standing, with no grade threshold published. Smith is a women's college and considers for admission any applicant who self-identifies as a woman, including cis, trans and nonbinary women. International students who do not apply for aid before admission are never eligible for institutional aid at the college, so the aid application must go in with the admission application.

Eligible Countries

Smith marks each merit award that is restricted to American citizens with the sentence that it is available to US citizens, and applies that marker to three of its five merit awards but not to this one. The merit aid block naming this award is also served on the college's financial aid page for international students, which uses it in a worked example. The college states no sentence naming international students and this award together, so eligibility rests on that convention and placement.
