Named for Dovey Johnson Roundtree of the Class of 1938, this Presidential Scholarship is awarded to twenty scholars a year. It covers tuition, fees and the equivalent cost of room and board for four academic years.
Spelman describes the quality it looks for as intellectual bravery, together with a commitment to the College's creed to change the world. The selection happens inside the Office of Admissions, reading the same application you submit for a place.
Twenty awards a year makes this the widest of Spelman's full-cost scholarships, and one application puts you in the pool for all of them.
International students can hold it. Spelman states that merit scholarships are the only aid it offers international students, so flights, insurance and personal costs stay with your family.
