The Gordon Zeto Scholarship is Spelman's largest route for an international student. It pays tuition, student fees, student health insurance and the equivalent cost of room and board from August to May, for four academic years, whether you live on campus or off.
This matters because Spelman tells international applicants plainly that merit scholarships are the only form of aid it offers them. No need-based money is on the table, and every F-1 applicant has to document how the rest of the bill gets paid before an I-20 is issued.
There is no separate application. You apply for admission through the Common Application and the Office of Admissions decides, reading your grades, your course rigour, your community service and your leadership. If you win, the scholarship letter lands in your SpelCheck portal with your acceptance.
Spelman is a historically Black liberal arts college for women in Atlanta, with students from countries including Ghana, South Africa, Japan, Trinidad and Tobago, Vietnam and the United Kingdom.
