About the Scholarship

The University of Tennessee pays incoming international first-year students $3,000 to $18,000 a year for four years, set by a grid of grade average against test score. At the top that is $72,000 across a degree.

The entry bar is high for a public university award: a 3.8 converted weighted core average is the floor, and the top band needs a 4.0 with an ACT of 34.

Two dates matter and they are not the same one. Test scores must reach the university by 1 April and the admission application by 1 May. The award also cannot be combined with the university's Global Ambassador Scholarship, so a student who qualifies for both takes one.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

A grid of the university's converted weighted core grade average against test score: $18,000 a year at 4.0 with an ACT of 34 or SAT of 1490, $9,000 at 4.0 with an ACT of 30 or SAT of 1360, and $3,000 at 3.8 with an ACT of 28 or SAT of 1300. Four-year totals run from $12,000 to $72,000. Amounts are the university's published 2026 to 2027 figures. It cannot be combined with other institutional scholarships, including the Global Ambassador Scholarship.

Eligibility
