About the Scholarship

The UAB International Scholarship pays $7,500 a year to new international undergraduates at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, renewable for up to four years.

Eligibility turns on where you went to school rather than citizenship. Applicants must have finished a non-US secondary school within the past three years with a grade average of at least 3.0, and must not have enrolled at a university before. Students already holding a government or external scholarship are excluded.

There is no separate application; the award follows from admission by the intake deadline.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

$7,500 a year applied toward the cost of attendance. Housing and living costs are not separately covered.

Eligibility

Graduated from a non-US secondary school within the past three years with a grade average of at least 3.0 on a four-point scale, with no prior university enrolment. Students receiving a government or external scholarship are not eligible.

Eligible Countries

For students who attended secondary school outside the United States and hold or expect F-1 visa status.
