About the Scholarship

Invitation to Idaho cuts what an international student pays at the University of Idaho from $29,300 a year to $13,538, a benefit of roughly $15,762, and it is granted automatically with no application and no deadline.

Understand the mechanism. The university calls it a non-disbursable scholarship: the benefit arrives as a reduced tuition rate, never as money, so it can never produce a refund and it does not apply to online-only semesters or summer courses.

Two points of friction in the university's own pages. Its international page states no grade requirement while its out-of-state page requires an incoming 3.0, so plan on the 3.0. And it cannot be combined with the university's #YouAreWelcomeHere award, which at current rates is worth slightly less, so taking that one costs you this.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

A tuition rate reduction rather than a cash award. For 2026 to 2027 the university lists non-resident tuition and fees at $29,300 and the rate for recipients at $13,538, a benefit of about $15,762 a year. It is non-disbursable, so no refund or cash ever results from it, and it does not apply to online-only semesters or summer courses.

Eligibility

Admission as a first-year or first-time transfer student pursuing a first bachelor's degree, with enrolment of 12 to 18 credits a semester. The university's out-of-state page requires an incoming grade average of 3.0 or higher while its international page states no threshold, so treat 3.0 as the requirement. Renewal needs a cumulative 2.5 at the university and continuous enrolment, for up to four years. It cannot be combined with the #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship.

Eligible Countries

The university states the programme is for eligible new international students, including transfer students, and that all eligible international undergraduates are automatically considered.

How to Apply

No separate application and no deadline. Applying for admission is enough, and the university states international students need not complete the American federal aid form since they cannot qualify for federal funding.
