About the Scholarship

The Fleur-de-Lis Scholarship waives the non-resident fee at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for international first-year students, worth an estimated $6,864 a semester for up to eight semesters.

The academic bar is unusually low for an award of this size: a 2.5 grade average with an ACT of 20 or an SAT of 1030. There is no separate application, and no essay or interview.

What it does not do is cover the whole bill. It removes the surcharge international students pay on top of base tuition, so tuition itself, other fees, housing and food still have to be funded. The university also marks the amount as an estimate, so it will drift year to year.

Country eligibility is subject to the provider's published requirements, checked on 12 September.

A full exemption from the non-resident fee, which the university estimates at $6,864 a semester for up to eight semesters, roughly $13,728 a year. Base tuition, other fees, housing and food remain payable. The university marks the figure as an estimated value for 2026 to 2027.

Eligibility

Completion of a recognised secondary programme comparable to an American high school, a cumulative grade average of 2.5 on the American scale, an ACT composite of 20 or an SAT composite of 1030, and regular admission to the university. The waiver runs up to eight semesters; the university publishes no renewal grade threshold.

Eligible Countries

The university states it offers two non-resident fee waivers to new incoming undergraduates who are citizens of countries other than the United States.
