About the Scholarship

ULM's Academic Merit Scholarship pays international first-year students $15,100 a year all in, of which $1,500 is the academic award and $1,500 goes toward housing, with the rest being the university's $12,100 out-of-state fee waiver.

The third international band, where the academic component drops to $1,500.

Two things shape what you actually receive. The housing portion only pays if you live on campus and never converts to a refund, and only one freshman academic scholarship can be held. The published cycle has also closed without a successor posted, so confirm the current figures.

What It Covers

  • Tuition
  • Housing

$15,100 a year in total: $1,500 academic, $1,500 toward housing, and the $12,100 Out-of-State Warhawk fee waiver. The waiver is counted inside this total rather than added to it. Only one freshman academic scholarship can be held. The housing award requires living on campus and cannot be refunded, so the headline total falls for a student living off campus. Declining the academic award forfeits it for all future semesters. Awards run for eight semesters or until the bachelor's degree, whichever comes first. The university's international table is stamped for 2026 to 2027 and says the offer is valid only for students enrolling from autumn 2026, a cycle that has closed. Its domestic page carries the same lag, so this reads as a site-wide update delay on a recurring programme rather than a discontinued award, but the amounts must be re-checked. Note also that the international table differs from the domestic out-of-state table under the same award names, and is scored on the SAT only with no ACT column.

Eligibility

A grade average of 3.5 to 4.0 with an SAT of 1130 to 1250, entering as a first-year student. Only one freshman academic scholarship can be held. The housing award requires living on campus and cannot be refunded, so the headline total falls for a student living off campus. Declining the academic award forfeits it for all future semesters. Awards run for eight semesters or until the bachelor's degree, whichever comes first.

Eligible Countries

The award sits in the university's table headed International Freshman Scholarships and Awards, on its scholarship page for international students. The page states international students may also be eligible for the Out-of-State Warhawk Scholarship, whose value is bundled into the totals below.
