About the Scholarship

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities reviews every admitted international student on an F-1 visa for a Global Excellence Scholarship, worth $5,000 to $20,000 a year to first-year students and $10,000 to autumn transfers.

There is no separate application and no published grade threshold: completing the admission application by the deadline is what puts you in the pool.

International tuition and fees are $44,743 for 2026 to 2027, and the university states it offers no full tuition waiver or scholarship.

Eligibility

F-1 immigration status maintained throughout, and satisfactory academic progress. The university publishes no numeric grade threshold. Up to four years for first-year entrants and three for autumn transfers.

How to Apply

No separate application. All admitted students on an F-1 visa who complete their admission application by the deadlines are reviewed. First-year recipients hear by the end of March and transfer awards are made in May and June.
