The Cross-Cultural Scholarship pays the difference between Minnesota resident and non-resident tuition at Winona State, so an international student pays the same tuition as a student from Minnesota. The university describes that gap as roughly $6,700 a year on its scholarships page, and publishes international tuition figures that already have the scholarship applied.
It is automatic on admission, which makes it the largest piece of guaranteed support an international applicant gets at Winona State.
Keeping it takes work each term. Students enrol in the Cross-Cultural Scholarship Program, complete a cross-cultural project each semester with Winona schools and community organisations, and hold a cumulative GPA of 2.50. The award runs for up to nine semesters.
Tuition is the only line it touches. Housing, meals, fees and health insurance remain for the student and family to fund.
