The Global English Language Olympiad of Southeast Asia (GELOSEA) is an annual English language competition run by GLOW Inc. for students from kindergarten through senior secondary level across Southeast Asia. The competition tests academic English skills with an emphasis on reading, vocabulary, and written expression.
What the test covers:
- Reading comprehension
- Vocabulary and spelling
- Analogy
- Grammar and correct usage
- Essay writing (secondary levels only)
Format:
- National Round: 90-minute paper-based or online test; primary levels are graded on 100 marks across four categories; secondary levels include an essay component worth 10 additional marks
- International Round: Students scoring in the top 60% of the national round qualify; held in Singapore (2026 international round: April 5–8, 2026 at D'Resort @ Downtown East)
Awards:
- National Round: Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals with certificates (top 60%); Honorable Certificate (bottom 40%)
- International Round: Champion Trophy, 1st/2nd/3rd Runner-Up certificates; cash prize for perfect scorers; souvenir kits for all participants
