The International Finance Olympiad (IFO) is a free annual online competition that challenges high school students worldwide to apply finance and economics knowledge to real-world problems. Organized by EAE International (registered in Singapore), IFO uses a two-round format to identify top performers globally.
Competition structure:
Round 1 — Comprehensive Objective Test (150 minutes, online)
- 300 multiple-choice and true/false questions
- Topics: finance theory, economics, analytical problem-solving, and international financial perspectives
- Remote proctoring required
- Students in Asia and Oceania sit at GMT+8, Europe and Africa at GMT+1, and the Americas at GMT-4
Round 2 — International Final (for qualified students)
- Module 1: 120 minutes, 100 questions across 5 subject areas (200 points)
- Module 2: 180 minutes, 5 short-answer questions (200 points)
Recognition:
- Individual awards for top performers
- School Team Awards for schools with 6 or more participating students
- Top 30 schools receive international rankings (Gold, Silver, and Bronze tiers)
2026 key dates:
- Registration deadline: August 10, 2026
- Mock test (practice environment): August 15–22, 2026
- Comprehensive objective test: August 22, 2026
- International final: scheduled after finalist announcement
Registration note: Participation requires a school advisor to register. Individual self-registration is not available — students should ask their school advisor to create an account at finance-olympiad.com and register the school's participating students before the deadline.
