The International Aviation Art Contest (also known as the FAI Young Artists Contest) is a free annual art competition for students ages 6–17 worldwide, organized by NASAO and the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) in partnership with the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI). Each year features a new aviation-themed prompt (2026: "Fly to Save Lives").
Competition structure:
- State/national level (US): Students submit through their state aviation office; state winners advance to national judging
- International level: Students submit through their country's FAI-affiliated national aero club; national winners advance to international judging
Prizes:
- State level (US): 1st place $200, 2nd place $150, 3rd place $100 cash + trophies
- National level (US): VISA gift card + framed reproduction of artwork
- International level: FAI gold, silver, and bronze medals and diplomas in each age category
Age categories: 6–9, 10–13, and 14–17 years old (specific groupings may vary by year).
To enter, US students should contact their state aviation office; international students should contact their national aeronautic federation. The theme and deadline are announced each fall for a mid-January submission deadline.
