About the Program

NYU Precollege gives rising 11th and 12th graders the opportunity to take real NYU undergraduate courses for college credit, taught by NYU faculty. Students can attend in person on NYU's Washington Square campus in New York City or take courses fully online. The program also runs in fall and spring semesters.

Academic areas:

  • Arts & Media (film, photography, music, studio art, and more)
  • STEM (biology, chemistry, computer science, data science, and more)
  • Humanities & Social Sciences (history, philosophy, psychology, and more)
  • Business (marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, and more)

Program highlights:

  • Earn transferable college credits (a 3-credit course costs ~$5,748; a 4-credit course costs ~$7,664)
  • Classes taught by NYU faculty; some courses include site visits to NYC institutions (museums, studios, professional firms)
  • Personal academic advising and access to NYU Libraries and resources
  • Summer students have the opportunity to attend College Prep Series sessions covering college admissions, financial aid, and navigating college life
  • Housing available on campus in summer (~$4,039 for room and dining)

Eligibility

Open to rising 11th and 12th graders worldwide; 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale) recommended; good academic and disciplinary standing required; recent high school graduates should apply as visiting students; freshmen (9th grade) are not eligible
