About the Program

The Beyond Borders Business Case Competition (BBBCC) is a free online competition organized by Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) for high school students from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. Teams of exactly four students analyze a real-world business challenge centered on sustainable innovation and regional impact, then propose and present solutions in English.

Competition structure:

  • Preliminary Screening: Teams submit a short problem statement identifying a local or regional challenge
  • Round 1 (96-hour case challenge): Teams receive a business case and submit a report, presentation deck, and video within 96 hours
  • Grand Finale: Top 6 teams present live via Zoom to a panel of judges

Prizes:

  • Champions: 10,000 JPY voucher
  • Grand Finale finalists (top 6 teams): APU merchandise + certificates
  • All Preliminary Round participants: e-certificates

Team members may come from different schools or countries within the eligible region. Registration is free and open from late June through late July.

Eligibility

Open to high school students grades 10-12 (or recent graduates within 3 years not in higher education) from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, or Cambodia; teams of exactly 4 members; English only; each person may join one team only

How to Apply

Register via the BBBCC website by July 22; submit team details and school information; complete preliminary screening in late July; compete in 96-hour online Round 1 case challenge in August; top 6 teams advance to Grand Finale via Zoom
