VEX V5 Robotics Competition is a team robotics competition for middle and high school students. Since May 2026, VEX Robotics competitions have been administered by VEX Robotics with the Global Robotics & Science Foundation, its authorized nonprofit partner and the competition pathway to the VEX Robotics World Championship.
The 2026-2027 game, Override, is played on a 12' x 12' square field. Two alliances (one red, one blue) of two teams each compete in matches consisting of a fifteen-second Autonomous Period followed by a one minute and forty-five second Driver Controlled Period. Alliances score by stacking pins and cups on goals, setting the field toggles to their alliance color, and ending the match with their robot in the contested Midfield. The alliance that scores more points in the Autonomous Period earns a 12-point bonus.
Team registration is $200 per team for U.S. teams. Teams compete at local and regional qualifying events listed on events.vex.com, which lead to the 2027 VEX Robotics World Championship in April 2027 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
