About the Program

The Yale Foreign Policy Initiative (YFPI) High School Essay Contest invites high school students worldwide to submit essays on contemporary foreign affairs and global issues. YFPI is a student-led organization at Yale University, operating independently from Yale. Essays are reviewed by Yale students and faculty, who select the most sophisticated and original submissions.

Prizes: Cash prize (amount unspecified) + publication on an international forum and YFPI's website and Instagram.

Eligibility: All high school grade levels; all countries welcome.

Submission: Via Google Form on yaleforeignpolicy.org. Check the site each year for the current prompt and deadline.
