About the Program

The Japan International Science and Mathematics Olympiads (JISMO) is an online competition in mathematics and science for primary school students, organized by Yayasan Mirai Indonesia (Mirai Indonesia Foundation). Despite the "Japan" in the name, the organization is based in Jakarta, Indonesia — "Mirai" (future in Japanese) reflects the org's branding philosophy. The competition runs seasonally, with students choosing their own test date from a set of weekly options within each season's window.

Competition format:

  • Online, taken individually at home or at school
  • Students select one competition date from multiple weekly slots within the season
  • Offline administration available for schools that request it from the JISMO committee
  • Two subjects offered independently: Mathematics and Science

2026 Autumn season dates:

  • Registration opens: June 1, 2026
  • Competition window: September 26; October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; November 7, 2026 (choose one date)
  • Results announced: November 13, 2026
  • Medals and certificates delivered: mid-December 2026 to mid-January 2027

Preparation support: JISMO also offers intensive preparation classes (4 sessions per season) to help students practice olympiad-style questions. International students can join these online for USD 50 per subject per season.

Awards: Medals and certificates for top performers, with named tiers of One-Star through Five-Star, Diamond, and Ruby; the scoring criteria for each tier are not published.
