Allegheny College says something few colleges in this directory say outright: international and American students are eligible for the same merit scholarships, up to $43,000 a year, guaranteed for four years.
The renewal condition is the remarkable part. The college states no minimum grade average is required to renew, which removes the cliff most large merit awards impose.
Two caveats. About half of applicants receive a Trustee Scholarship and only a small number receive the top figure, so $43,000 is a ceiling rather than a typical outcome. And the college is need-aware for international applicants, so ability to pay forms part of the admission decision.
